German Kaffeeklatsch
Sprechen Sie Deutsch? Dann kommen Sie zum Kaffeeklatsch!
The Kaffeeklatsch is a group of Panorama residents that meet monthly to practice their German language skills. With “Gemütlichkeit”, we enjoy a cup of coffee, cakes/cookies, and excellent German conversation. We revisit our German-speaking heritage, talk about native customs during the year, and refresh our language skills.
In the summer, we even have a BBQ of Bratwurst, Sauerkraut und Kartoffelsalat.
We meet on the third Friday of the month in the Chinook Coffee Room, starting at 3 p.m.
If you were born and raised in a German-speaking country or you learned German at home and/or in school or you lived abroad and you would like to practice your language skills? We’d love to meet you and converse with you.
We have participants at our Kaffeeklatsch from several different European countries with one wish – to keep our language skills alive.
The Kaffeeklatsch is conducted in German and basic skills are necessary. We encourage folks to join who want to practice their German language skills.
Welcome to Kaffeeklatsch at Panorama!
We enjoy sharing our life stories, reminisce what life was like. and love talking about holidays in Germany (Christkindle Markets, Carneval, Rosenmontag, and lots of others).
Kaffeeklatsch without coffee and cakes, impossible!
We include lots of good conversation, but we also taste cakes/cookies and even participate in a yearly BBQ that includes German Bratwurst, Sauerkraut, Beer and more.
Keep your language skills alive!
At our monthly meetings, we speak German in a supporting environment. Most of us do not have the opportunity to converse in German frequently. We talk about how the language is evolving, while we live far away from German speaking countries.
