Metal Shop
*Resident Council Sponsored
The Metal Shop, in the lower level of the Quinault, has tools and equipment to repair and maintain metal objects, to manipulate metal, and to create with metal. The shop supports metal lathe turning; drilling, reaming and tapping; metal cutting, tuning, and bending; welding; shaping; and grinding.
During the Covid shutdown, the Metal Shop is open to residents who have completed the safety and orientation to tools and equipment. Metal applications are endless but can include engraving, hand scraping, sculpting, tool making, tool repairing, welding broken parts, garden art and other forms of metal art.
The Metal Shop creates an environment equipped to manage small metal projects. The resident lead maintains and manages the Metal Shop with cleaning, repair, and upgrade as needed. Most of the start-up equipment and tools were donated by residents or funded by the Panorama corporation. Ongoing supplies such as saw blades, welding material and gases, and tool repair are obtained through donations and from the Resident Council.
