Pea Patch
*Resident Council Sponsored
The Pea Patch is a garden area on the Panorama property with over one hundred 730-square-foot plots for residents to plant and maintain gardens. The Pea Patch falls under the guidance of the Panorama Garden Club.
The mission of the Garden Club is to provide a voluntary structured organization for the Panorama residents who enjoy gardening as a hobby. The Pea Patch is an area provided by the Panorama Corporation for that purpose. A general membership meeting of Pea Patch gardeners is held twice a year (April, October). The Garden Club board meets monthly from March to November.
The Pea Patch is open to all Panorama residents to walk the paths and enjoy the spectacular greenery and flowers during peak summer growing season.
Special projects of the Garden Club in the Pea Patch include:
- Blue Zone Garden – Volunteers grow flowers to provide live bouquets for Panorama’s C&R unit.
- Food Bank Support – Every year gardeners donate over 2000 pounds of surplus produce to the Thurston County Food Bank for its clients.
- Harvest Share – A weekly “farmer’s market” during growing season of Pea Patch produce is open to residents of Panorama. A highlight of this is sweet corn crop (in season). Payment for produce is by donation, and any money taken in supports the purchase and maintenance of gardening equipment.
Two Panorama residents teamed up during the summer of 2020 to produce BEHIND THE MASK, a series of short videos interviewing individual gardeners.
