Tax Aide
The AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program and its volunteers provides FREE personal Income Tax preparation at several locations in Thurston County, including one right here at Panorama. This service is open to the general public and membership in AARP is not required. There are no income or age limits to qualify and most personal tax situations can be handled.
The service is provided in the basement of the Chalet Apartments each Wednesday and Friday afternoon from the beginning of February through the middle of April each year. Service is provided on a first come, first served basis, with a sign-up sheet being posted about 11:00am on each day of service. Notices are posted on Panorama bulletin boards and reader boards and there is coverage on a PCTV Inside Panorama interview each January. More information about the service can be obtained at https://www.aarp.org/money/taxes/info-2004/.
This service depends on volunteers who are comfortable using laptop computers and with a desire to be of assistance to those who need tax preparation assistance. An orientation meeting is held in November with training classes held in December and January. All volunteers who complete training and IRS testing become IRS Certified to prepare tax returns. Anyone interested in being a volunteer tax preparer can submit their application on the AARP Volunteer Application website at: https://secure.aarp.org/applications/Volunteer_with_AARP_Tax_Aide/
